I guess you’ve heard the news about this TV show that will be based on me and Mary Sue. The pilot was given the greenlight by ABC, a comedy, inspired by us and our lives in the restaurant business. Set in the 80s even! I’m pretty damn excited!
Jeff Greenstein (“Desperate Housewives”) is absolutely wonderful…sweet, smart, fun, playful…love that he’s writing this. And you know, Michael Eisner pitched the idea after he featured us in his book, Working Together. It’s been a total blast so far…we are both pretty blown away with the idea that a sitcom is going to be based on our lives. Way back when we opened City, KCET did a great show called “Turning Points” on us opening the restaurant. It was crazy. They followed us around for six weeks for this special…that is such a cool thing to look back on, to see where were at 30 years ago.
And I have to say, when “SNL” started that radio show skit, “The Delicious Dish” on NPR, it was based on MSM and I when we created the show “Good Food” on KCRW. That show still exists today with Evan Kleiman as host! But when that skit aired, it was wild…we really thought we made it!!!!
But this, wow, this is surreal for sure…it’s an honor and truly beyond my wildest imagination. But one question remains…who should play me and Mary Sue?????

ABC orders TV pilot inspired by Susan Feniger, Mary Sue Milliken
Power chefs Susan Feniger and Mary Sue Milliken have one of the most unusual — and enduring — friendships/partnerships going. And now, it’s going back to TV.
ABC has given the greenlight to a comedy pilot inspired by Feniger and Milliken. Set in the 1980s — expect some asymmetrical hairdos — it follows two female chefs struggling to make their way in an industry dominated by men.

me! ready to reprise my acting career, abandoned since high school. name is right. even look like susan. and owned a restaurant in a previous life. and p.s. love street!
Michelle Williams for Mary Sue, Sara Gilbert for Susan
For Mary Sue, Michele Williams — if she’d do TV.
Sara Gilbert can play Susan.
I hope they put in the part where Mary Sue comes up to the window in the kitchen door with a lamb’s tongue in her mouth…or the time Susan put a duck’s head on the hood ornament of her car and left it there…forever. Don’t forget the time you guys put an eel in the pastry case because you found out that your counterman (Michael C.) was afraid of snakes. Good times!
Janeane Garofalo!!!
Pamela Adlon she’s the spunky gal Marcy from Californication! for Susan and Monica Potter from Parenthood for Mary Sue. those are my votes!
